What this score is — and is not
AI Detector is a forensic estimate. Useful. Incomplete. Honest about the gaps.
A percentage is not proof
The number is AI-likelihood — how synthetic the work seems — not a finding of who wrote it. People write like machines. Machines write like people.
Mixed is a valid verdict
When the signal is unclear, we say mixed. That means look closer, not guilty. Do not treat the middle of the meter as a confession.
Short texts are shaky
Passages under about 150 words do not give us enough rhythm to trust. Paste more, or treat the score as a hunch.
Edited AI hides
Humanised, rewritten, or lightly patched machine text is harder to flag. A low score does not mean a human sat down from a blank page.
Formal ESL is not guilt
Careful second-language writing can look “smooth.” That smoothness is often craft, not a generator. Do not punish someone for sounding prepared.
Pictures, sound, and clips
Compression and screenshots lower confidence on images. Video is one still frame, not the moving picture. Audio needs a clean clip; we transcribe when we can.
Not a court stamp
This is not legally binding. It is not the sole basis for failing a student, firing someone, or going to court. Use it as a first look, then use a human.
